Moment of Silence for Cohen

Tomorrow I will be participating in a moment of silence for Cohen. My heart was instantly touched months ago when I read the story of Megan and Brent and their sweet baby Cohen. My heart breaks for them as they are holding the memorial service for Cohen tomorrow. You can join other participating bloggers at Send Love to Cohen.

What: Moment of Silence for Cohen

When: Thursday July 1st from midnight to 11:59 pm.

How: Bloggers participating will post the Cohen banner (above) or simply post Cohen’s name in large letters on their blog.

Why: July 1st Megan and Brent will be holding Cohen’s memorial service. The moment of silence is an opportunity for Megan’s blog community to stand behind her and support her on this difficult day. Linking up will give Megan a chance to see the support at a glance.

Swings and Snow Cones

We finally got Ryan's prescription for his ear infection today. Apparently our ped didn't send it to the pharmacy yesterday so we had to wait to get it together. Poor little boy is having a hard time eating because it hurts every time he swallows. I'm praying big time that his medicine kicks in SOON! We have an appointment with the ENT next Friday.
After picking up his script we ran over to the park. Ryan had the biggest smile on his face and just loves swinging. The only time he has been fussy today was during meals. Even when he feels bad he's such a happy boy. It was 80 degrees out and just the perfect weather. Such a nice day for the park.
The park in Loveland has a bike trail AND a snow cone shack. I haven't had one in a long time so I had to have one on this warm summer day. I love our little town we live in. It's so fun and so cute.
I'm watching The Bachelorette during naptime today and just saw the previews for The Bachelor Pad. I can't wait to watch! Who's gonna be watching with me???

One Year Check-up

Our morning started out VERY early here in the Deepe house! Ryan was very fussy yesterday and I suspected his ear infection was lingering around. He fused off and on throughout the night. Poor baby! He woke up at 5:30 crying and fusing. Now I know many kids get up this early many mornings but this was a shock to my system when Ryan doesn't usually wake until after 8am.
Since we were up so early we went for an early morning wagon ride. The weather was perfect.
We have a pond in our neighborhood with a resident swan, some geese and some ducks. They usually don't disturb you but apparently someone has been feeding them because as soon as we got close to the pond they started swarming us. I was worried they might attack Ryan or me so we dodged them in the grass. Makes me mad since there are signs not to feed them (they are fed a diet of swan, geese and duck food). They followed us all the way around the pound. Oh my!
Today was Ryan's one year check-up. Here are his stats: 22lbs 9oz (50%), 30.5 inches tall (75%) and his head is 75%. We think his weight might be a little under 50% because of his ear infections. He is doing well and right on track. He is crawling and cruising around furniture, just like he should. Someone just told me the other day that the average age babies walk is 15 months. I think he will walk between 13 and 14 months. He will walk when he's ready. Our ped wants to see Ryan say more words so we are going to be working on that. So blessed and thankful for a healthy and beautiful baby!
Now for the not so well check-up. Ryan still has an ear infection in his right ear. Poor Baby!!! Sine his ear is not draining with the plethora of anti-biotics we have been given we are being sent to the ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT). I HATE that Ryan will more than likely have to have tubes but I am glad that hopefully he will not have any more ear infections. We were supposed to pick up his anti-biotic number 1,287 this afternoon but when I got to the pharmacy it wasn't there, ugh! My ped was supposed to fax it in. I'm praying Ryan doesn't have a rough night again. I will be picking it up first thing in the morning.

Ryan did enjoy some yummy chick-fil-A after his check-up and shots. Then we played at the pool for a little while. I love pool days! He came home and took a 3 1/2 nap. Hope this poor little boy starts feeling better soon!

Weekend Wrap-up

We had a full weekend of swim lessons, pool time, a birthday party and friends over for dinner Sunday night. Saturday morning we had Ryan's swim lessons. He continues to love the water. He is wanting more independence in the water day by day. Our pool has a zero grad into the water and Ryan can now hold onto the side of the pool and walk.
Ryan has recovered from his fall on Friday. He has a little bump on the right side of his head and a scratch on his nose. We lowered his crib all the way and took out the bumper so he definitely can't get out now.
Saturday afternoon he went to his buddy Nicholas' first birthday party. It was HOT HOT HOT but alot of fun.
Ryan enjoyed playing with Elizabeth and hanging out in the shade. They had great food and pools set up for the kids to play in. Good thing since it was so hot!
Nicholas enjoyed his cake but like Ryan he ate mostly frosting and not much cake. Seems like the kids just freeze when so many people are watching them waiting to see what they are going to do.
The birthday cake! Yum!
Ryan and Nicholas loved playing with this walker. Nicholas likes to army crawl but he can really move and walk with this thing. Ryan loved it too. When Ryan finds something he loves he opens his mouth so wide. So cute.

Hope you had a great weekend like we did. We are looking forward to a good week and fun holiday weekend!

Monkey Boy

Well we like to call Ryan Monkey Boy but today he lived up to his nickname!
My worst fear came true this morning while I was getting ready for the day. I had just gotten out of the shower and had put Ryan in his crib hoping he would take a morning nap when all of a sudden a heard a HUGE thud. I went running into his room to find him sitting on the floor next to his crib. Oh my word...my 12 month old just climbed or fell out of his crib. He was obviously crying and was pretty scared. It scared me to death. As of tonight his crib is on it's lowest setting and the bumper is OUT! I hope and pray our monkey stays put in his crib! He is just too young to move to a toddler bed!

Playtime and cake

Love this picture of Ryan I took today. He looks like such a big boy. I can't believe how fast he is growing right before our eyes.
Today we had a fun lunch with a couple of my girlfriends. I'm trying to think of more things to feed him besides chicken and grilled cheese sandwiches, ha. This morning we tried some oatmeal peaches and cream. Ryan hated it, but thankfully he like yogurt.
He had a blast playing with this random bucket at the pool the other day so I picked up one at the store today. He loved it and wouldn't put it down. I love that when he finds something he really likes he drags it around everywhere and doesn't let go. So cute!

Tonight we had Bible study with our small group and I was in charge of snack. Last night Kelly posted a recipe for Chocolate Chip Pound Cake and I thought it sounded perfect for small group. I picked up the ingredients today and it was so easy to make! Here is the recipe!

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake
Ingredients: 1 yellow cake mix (you can also use chocolate cake mix)
1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
1 16 oz sour cream
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegtable oil
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Mix ingredients together. Preheat oven to 350. Grease bundt pan. Mix together ingredients and pour in pan. Bake for one hour then cool.
Top with powdered sugar! (my favorite part)
This was so yummy and a big hit. The only thing that would make it better would be some vanilla ice cream! I will definitely be making this again!

Fun in the sun

Ryan and I went to the pool with our friends Anissa and Elizabeth. They belong to a rec center with a great pool. They have a great area for kids. Ryan and Elizabeth had a great time playing together!
Ryan is such a water baby and just has a blast in the water. They were so funny about their water toys. They wanted to play with each others toys and kept swapping them. Ryan has an adorable hat that matches his bathing suit but he refuses to wear it. As soon as you put it on his head he rips it right off. I hate having to cover his head with sunscreen but we gotta protect his head.
We had such a fun day and enjoyed playing at the pool with friends. I love how the pool just wears them out. Ryan is still asleep. I better go wake him up or he will never go to bed tonight.

New wheels, a farm and peaches

Today is the longest day of the year, the first day of summer. And it felt like the first day of summer. We had temps in the 90's and an afternoon thunderstorm.
Ryan and I had a typical monday for us. We went to the gym this morning then came home for naps (Ryan napped, not me, ha) lunch and lots of cleaning. I had a productive day and even finished reading "I will carry you" by Angie Smith. Such a good book! Shed a few, well maybe alot, of tears but such an amazing story.
Ryan's Grandpa and Grandma (my inlaws) got Ryan this new set of wheels for his birthday. He absolutely LOVES it! He opens and closes the door no less than 1,253 times, ha! He enjoys pushing it around and loves riding in it.
Annabelle is trying to figure out how to get to that squeaky in the horn. She goes nuts trying to get to it anytime you squeak the horn.
Ryan also LOVES his farm he got from his Nana and Granddad (my parents). It has so many songs and noises and things to do. He loves it as much as I knew he would. Tons of entertainment.
Tonight for dinner Ryan didn't want anything to do with his chicken or green beans. (He usually loves chicken) I gave him peaches to start off with and when his tray was abandoned of peaches he would fuss until I put more on there. He ended up eating a WHOLE can of peaches for dinner. At least he likes his fruits. Now we just need to work on his veggies!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy in the world! Ryan is so blessed to have such a wonderful Dad like Matt. He is so good with Ryan and just loves him to the moon and back!
Also a very happy Father's Day to my sweet Daddy! I love you so much and appreciate all you do! We can't wait to see you again!

This morning we had our first family photo shoot and Ryan's first year pictures. It was fun but boy was it HOT! We were both working hard trying to get Ryan to look and smile! It's funny the things parents do to get their kids to smile, ha! I was a hot mess by the time we left. I can't wait to see how they turned out. I think we got some really good ones!
I wanted to do something really memorable for Matt on Father's Day. My friend gave me this good idea to do some finger paints on a canvas with Ryan. I thought he would love this and enjoy patting his hand on the canvas with messy paint. He loves to slap his hand on hard objects.
At first Ryan enjoyed flipping the canvas off his chair. He thought this was fun. Unfortunately the fun didn't last very long!
Thank goodness I put plastic over everything. I put paint on a paper plate and dipped Ryan's hand in the paint. Oh, he hated it! He didn't like being forced to "paint". We hurried and got at least something on the canvas. I think we were honestly out there maybe 5 minutes.
Here is the end result. Not too bad for a one year old! I think it will be something Matt can look back on as a sweet Father's day memory.
My in-laws took Ryan to their neighborhood pool this afternoon. Ryan had a blast and I think they did too. We enjoyed a yummy dinner at their house after the pool. We had a great day but we are exhausted. I am looking forward to crawling in my bed very soon.

Children's museum and splashes

Yesterday Ryan and I went to the Children's Museum for the first time. I wasn't sure they would have anything for his age range but decided to go check it out. I'm sure glad we did. Ryan had a blast. There is an area just for kids 4 and under. Ryan had so much fun crawling from play area to different stations. He loved these cars and trucks.
I knew he would love this little play station. I couldn't get him away from it.
Cruising so well. He will be walking before we know it! He had such a fun time and played so hard. We got home about 2:30 and he napped for over three hours. Matt got home from work before he even woke up from his nap. He even slept late this morning until 9am. I woke up worried I hadn't heard him. He was just a sleepy boy!
Last night I snapped a few pics of Ryan in the tub. He LOVES the water and loves to splash. Today we had a MOPS pool party. It was so much fun. I'm sad I didn't get one single pic from our day. Will have to get some pics tomorrow at the pool.
I got this little pool float for Ryan and we used it for the first time today. He absolutely loved it. It was great because he could still kick and move pretty well but he could still float. He could even still play with his toys in the float. The only bad thing is we can't use it at the gym pool =( (I love this pic of him, such an intent look on his face chewing his alligator)
Prayer Request: My heart is so heavy for Megan and Brent tonight. I just read on Twitter tonight that sweet baby Cohen is not going to make it. Please please please pray for Megan and Brent as they release their first born son into the arms of Jesus. I cannot imagine the heartache they must be going through right now. I know they would covet your prayers.
