Good Weekend

We had a quiet weekend around here! It was chilly and just nice to hang around the house most of the weekend.  We took the boys to a little restaurant in downtown Loveland for dinner Friday night.  It was fun and the boys did great!

Colton is eating more and more table food every day.  He like everything so far and that I'm thankful.  I just bought a ton of baby food but I think over the next few weeks I will start giving him just table food for dinner and bottle before bed.
Sunday morning Matt went to get a dunkin donut's coffee and picked up some donuts.  I have a huge weakness for donuts.  They are yummy but so many ww points and not filling at all.  They sure were good though.  Ryan enjoyed them as well!

Sunday we went to church then came home for lunch and naps.  Matt and I both rested while the boys napped.  It was nice to relax and take it easy.

We are excited this week brings much warmer temps.  It's suppose to be in the 80's so we will be playing outside and going on lots of walks.  Crazy to think we were wearing jackets last week and shorts this week.

Ten Months Old

Colton - You are 10 months old!!!!!

What have you been up to this month???

 You weigh around 19 pounds.
You wear size 3 diaper.
You wear size 9-12 month clothes.
You wear size 3.5 size shoe.

You are a GREAT eater.  You already eat better than Ryan did at this age.  You are starting to eat table food more and more.  You love bananas, peaches and pears.  You also like peas, carrots and any kind of bread.  You just tried grapes this week and you LOVE them.  You eat baby food oatmeal and fruit for breakfast and usually a baby food veggie for lunch and dinner.

You are such a great sleeper!  Praise the Lord for that!  You go to bed between 6:30-7pm and you wake between 7-8am.  You have a tendency to be a light sleeper and wake early when Matt gets up for work but thankfully you either go back to sleep or you chill in your bed until I come get you.

You are not crawling yet but we talked with a physical therapist this month and found some exercises to help you start moving.  You are finally rolling from your back to your belly.

You are totally content sitting and watching your big brother.  You smile and laugh at him all the time.  You already admire him so much.

You are so sweet and good natured.  You are such a joy.  You would be happy if I held you all day
long.  You have a pretty easy personality.  I am just crazy about you.

You still only have two teeth.  Ryan had at least 6 teeth by this age but just shows how different you are.  Your teeth will probably all come in at once.  I wonder if you are getting more soon since you are drooling a ton lately.

You are still easy to take places.  And you are so good in the church and gym nursery.

I cannot believe how big you are getting and how much you have changed in just a few months.  Your hair is getting so thick and getting lighter.  You had your first haircut last month.  You didn't need a lot but just a little trim around the ears.  We are crazy about you and love you to pieces.

Cooking or Baking

At MOPS this morning we had a lady from Pampered Chef come talk about cooking and share some of her easy, yummy recipes as well as some cooking tips.  I typically cook 5-6 nights a week.  I'm always on the look out for easy and good recipes.

It's no secret that I don't like to cook but I love to bake.  I think it's because baking you follow a recipe and you end up with a great product but cooking requires more technic and skill.  A skill I definitely don't have.  I feel like people either like to cook or like to bake or don't like either. ha!  What about you?

I made these cute wedding shower cookies for a friend at MOPS.  I have seen the posie flower cake cookies before and knew I had to try them.  I think they turned out very cute.
And I couldn't decide which picture of Colton I liked better.  He is so sweet and I can't get enough of him.

Crew Playdate

This morning the Joseph Crew came over for a playdate.  Heather is an amazing mom.  She works part time, takes care of her cutie pies Will who is almost 3 and sweet Caroline who will be one next month, and takes care of her husband and the household.  Her house is always so clean and everything is in place.  She is one of my favorite friends and is always so encouraging.  She is just the real deal and I love that!
I am completely dying over these two cuties.  Oh my goodness I could seriously eat them with a spoon.  They were so cute and so into checking each other out.

Colton and Caroline are apart of an arranged marriage. ;) They used to be in the church nursery together until miss Caroline moved up to the next class since she is a woman on the move.  Hopefully they will be reunited in the nursery again soon.  So adorable I can hardly stand it!

Baby Shower and Colton Update

Saturday I went to a baby shower for Matt's cousin Nancy.  The shower was adorable!  It was a yellow and denim theme and just really cute.  Nancy and Jake are super excited to welcome their first baby, a little boy named Grayson, in June.
My sister in law Erin, me and Matt's Aunt Teresa (she is married to Matt's Uncle Steve).
How cute is this huge stuffed giraffe. So cute!  Nancy got tons of cute stuff at the shower.  It was so fun to hang out with family we don't see very much.
Connie and Jane did an amazing job.  The attention to detail was amazing.  Connie is so talented and sewed all these adorable things for the shower.  She made utensil holders out of blue jeans and she made this adorable bear out of the blue jeans.  She got 15 pairs of blue jeans at goodwill and I don't think she wasted one piece of them.  She even made coasters from the seams.  She's amazing!

Such a cute cake!

Saturday night we went down to the street to celebrate our friends Josh and Jake's 3rd birthday party.  It was so fun and we had a blast at their little party.

So this morning we had Colton's evaluation to see about physical therapy.  The evaluation was great and the therapists were wonderful.  They watched and played with Colton.  He worked hard and turned on his charm.

Well it was good news and bad news.  He does not qualify for physical therapy with their program.  They did a whole test and score from 1 to 50 and he scored a 6.  They start treating at a 5.  I'm thankful he is not considered "delayed" but want to help him as best I can.  It's crazy that he just started rolling a few days ago and if he hadn't he would have qualified.

The PT was great and showed me some exercises I can do with him to help.  She said he needs to be on his knees more  and I need to put him down away from his toys.  Ryan is basically his real life tv.  He is totally content sitting and watching him.  He needs to play on his knees at a low surface and even sit cross legged.  I am confident with all these new exercises he will be on the move in no time.

Fab Friday

Look at these two cuties I found in my bed this morning! Ha! I feed Colton his breakfast and then give him a bottle in our bed. He is fascinated by Annabelle and loves pulling on her paw, ears and tail. Belly is so good with him and loves to give him kisses. I love our special cuddle time in the morning.
Yesterday we went to a playdate at Jump Zone. It's been about a year since I have taken Ryan to a bouncy house. Did say he had fun was an understatement. He had a BLAST! He was running and playing so hard he was sweating! I tried to take some pics but they just came out blurry.
Colton did great and chilled in the stroller and baby bijorn. He loved watching the kids and wanted to go play too.
We had Colton's intake paperwork for physical therapy done yesterday. I am looking forward to learning some exercises for him and helping him get stronger. And would you believe that when I put Colton down for his nap this afternoon he was rolling from his back to his belly over and over again. I couldn't believe it. He's only rolled from his back to his belly maybe 10 times. He is getting there!
Tonight Matt was working late so I took the boys to Cracker Barrel for dinner. I love, love, love catfish and Cracker Barrel is the only place around here I can find catfish. The boys were perfect and did so good. Ryan ate all his dinner and Colton ate his baby food, some cheerios and almost a whole biscuit. It was a successful outing! So blessed to have such sweet boys!

Wednesday

I have been working with Colton today on crawling, pulling up and just strengthening his muscles. He did so well today! I got him to get on all fours and stay for a few seconds!

I got in touch with the agency for physical therapy to set up an evaluation for Colton. At first they told me it was going to be three weeks, which is frustrating since I want to get this ball rolling and get him moving. Thankfully they have an opening Monday morning which will be perfect since Ryan will be at MDO.
It was so beautiful and warm outside today! The boys had a blast playing in the backyard.

Tonight we went to an Art Show at Ryan's MDO school. Matt had to work late and had Bible study so it was just me and the boys. Ryan LOVED seeing his teachers and his friends. Of course the highlight for him was getting a cookie, ha! I loved seeing all the art work Ryan has been working on all year!
And just for my own personal records! Here is some of his artwork we saw tonight!

This and That

This morning we had Ryan's speech evaluation. We saw his ENT a couple weeks ago and I shared with him that Ryan is finally talking but he slurs many of his words. I understand most of what he says but other people have trouble understanding him sometimes. He said he did notice and referred him to have a speech evaluation.

We met with Roxanne, the Speech Therapist, and Ryan instantly liked her and they hit it off. We watched on camera from an observation room. Ryan did awesome! I am so happy to report that Ryan is average and above average in his speech development. Yay!!! He is right on track for his age! What a peace of mind!!! The therapist said he is a fast talker and that's part of the reason things come out slurred. Funny since Matt and I are both talkers! So thankful for a healthy and sweet little boy!
I am so proud of my husband who passed him personal training certification a few weeks ago. He has been studying since the end of December! He is now a certified personal trainer. Right now he works full time as an engineer but he wants to do some personal training on the side. It's always been a dream of his and I'm so proud and excited to see him accomplish such a big goal.

By the way he has lost around 25 lbs since Januaray (so frustrating he always loses weight faster and easier than me) and I have lost almost 20 lbs. Woohoo for taking off those pounds. We've been working hard and it's paying off!
And of course Colton has just been yummy all day!
I am LOVING these two jonjons I ordered off Etsy for Colton this summer! They are ADORABLE and I cannot wait to put them on him. The 1 with the monkey is his birthday outfit! Is he really going to be ONE in just over two months???? What in the world!!!

Quiet Weekend

We had a very quiet weekend around here. Saturday Matt had to go in to work so it was just me and the boys all morning. I was going to run a few errands but it was rainy and yucky out all day We stayed home in our pi's, made pancakes and watched Mickey Mouse.

Saturday night we went on a double date with our fun friends Jim and Sally. We used to be in a small group with them and we love hanging out with them. He laughed until our stomachs hurt. Gabrielle watched the boys for us and did an amazing job as usual. We had a wonderful time on our date and can't wait to go out again.
Yesterday I was trying to get pictures of the boys before church and this is what happened when they sat on the couch next to each other. Ryan's glow doodle was on the couch so he picked it up and Cotlon decided he wanted it. Thankfully only a few tears were shed. I can't believe the sibling rivalry has already started. Oh boy!!!!

Two Little Monkeys

Today I'm linking up to Kelly's Korner for "Show us your life: Boy Moms". I love finding other moms of boys!
Growing up I had an older brother who is three years older than me. I was the baby and I loved being the baby, ha! My brother and I didn't always get along and we fought a lot. We get along now that we are grown up...and don't live under the same roof, haha! I always pictured myself having two boys and a girl. I've always loved little boys and think they are so sweet. I love girls too and would love to buy bows and sweet little dresses for a girl. Oh my, I could have so much fun with a girl! We would be broke but it would be fun! I wanted two boys first so they would be protective and take care of their baby sister.
When I got pregnant with my first born Ryan, we didn't find out if we were having a boy or girl. We wanted to be surprised when he was born. Well we were definitely surprised! Of course I prepared myself for either boy or girl. I never had a feeling one way or the other.

After I got used to the idea of having a boy I was so excited to be raising a little boy. Boys love their mommas, are always busy and full of energy. Ryan was the sweetest and happiest baby. Besides dealing with some reflux and major spit up he was the best baby. He is still a sweet and happy toddler. He is very busy and doesn't sit still for long but he is the sweetest thing. He loves playing outside, loves tickle time with daddy and loves to read his books before bed.
When I got pregnant with our 2nd born I was hoping for a girl but totally ok if it was a boy. I loved the idea of having a boy and giving Ryan a little brother. A brother that would be a best bud for life. Before our 20 week ultrasound I was completely convinced that Colton was a girl. I was having all kinds of dreams it was a girl and just had a gut feeling it was a girl. When the ultrasound tech said "looks like a boy" I vividly remember saying "what???? are you sure? are you really, really sure". And then she showed us he was definitely all boy!

Now I cannot imagine having a girl. I love that they already share clothes. They are 2 years and 12 days apart so Colton wears almost all of Ryan's hand me downs. I love they will share the same toys and love of Mickey Mouse and Cars movie.
Colton is the sweetest baby! He is so easy going and just a joy. He seriously has the sweetest smile. He is the cutest baby ever! I think he is going to be pretty laid back which is just what I need after having a busy first born.
I absolutely love having two boys and would be totally content having a 3rd boy. Matt and I are both hoping for a girl next time but I honestly wouldn't mind another boy. I feel like I know what to do and what to expect with boys. I never imagined being a boy mom but I'm so glad God is all knowing and blessed me with these special and sweet boys!
