Showered with love

This past weekend was my baby shower!  It was AMAZING!  My best friend Rachel, Aunt Teresa and friend Sally were the hostesses!  I am so thankful to have such awesome and amazing friends and family!  Baby Deepe got so many cute, adorable and needed items!  We had great food including a chick-fil-A nugget tray!  Whenever I eat chick-fil-A the baby goes crazy and starts moving around alot!  Either this baby loves chick-fil-A or it is sprouting chicken wings! ha  I had such a fun time playing games and just chatting with everyone!  It was the best shower!  Thanks Raych , Teresa and Sally for all the hard work to pull it off and thanks to everyone who came!

Here I am before the party started (32.3 weeks)

The amazing hostess with the mostess (Raych)!!!
The study where everyone "checked in" and got name tags
One of my favorite parts of the shower were the name tags.
Guests had to guess what we are having, and pick either pink or blue accordingly.
Seemed like a far share of both but I would say more blue but just by a hair!
The spread
Cake and punch table
My friend Sally did an amazing job of putting together these words of wisdom cards people could write down and give us!  She also gave me a scrapbook to put them all in!
The door prizes and favor bags
My friend Sally made this AMAZING shower cake!!!  Everyone oohed and aahed over it!  Sally took the cake classes with me last summer!  She is so talented and I think better than me at decorating cakes!  She did an awesome job with the cake!
I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the inside but it had 3 layers color pink, white and blue!
It was just too adorable...and yummy!
Alex helping me open gifts!
Jane won the 'how big am I' game, she was almost right now!
My Mother-in-law Kris (Matt's stepmom) and my Mom enjoying some chatting time!
Matt's cousin Ellie and her adorable daughter Evie!
Evie and Baby Deepe will be 3rd cousins, isn't that neat?
Had to include one last pic of Raych and Alex!  This is right before I had to take them to the airport ;(  We had so much fun with them and can't wait to see them again soon!

Rachel and Alex

This past week my best friend Rachel and her son Alex came to visit us and throw my baby shower!  We had the best time together!  It was soooo much fun!  I can't wait for them to come back and visit!  Alex is a true delight and such a good baby!  He will be one year old in just a couple weeks!  It's wild to think that just this time last year I was up in Connecticut throwing Raych her baby shower!  So wild!  They got in town on Wednesday night so we decided to hit some local hot spots on Thursday!
Raych and Alex in front of Cincinnati skyline
Visiting the Newport Aquarium
Alex loved looking at all the fish, sharks and sea life!
Raych touching the starfish.
Alex was a little too unsure about this!
Look how excited he was to see these fishies come swimming up to him.
He would get so excited and tried to "talk" to them.
And of course we had to feed Alex his first ever Chick-fil-A meal!
Boy did this kid love it!  Raych couldn't cut it up fast enough!  He was shoveling it in!
Isn't he adorable in his little outfit his "aunt" Summer got him for his first birthday?

This is what happens when "aunt" Summer tries to feed Alex!
I've got a lot to learn!  We made a big mess but I think he got some of his dinner down!
Yeah, he knows he's a mess!!!

31 weeks

We finally got our glider last Friday!  I wasn't expecting it to be in for a few more weeks so I was thrilled when they called and said it was here!  Woohoo!  And gosh do I love it, it's soooo comfy!  I can't wait to spend some sweet time with the baby in this chair!
I couldn't resist taking a pic of our first babies, Gracie and Annabelle!  Aren't they the cutest!  Don't get too used to that spot girls, that's reserved for Mom and baby!

Here I am at 31.3 weeks!  I had a dr. appointment today and it went really well!  I am so happy to report I have only gained 1 lb since my last appointment!  Yay!  I was thrilled, it made my day!  I asked the dr. again if she could feel the position of the baby because I'm feeling him/her head up by my ribs!  She said it's still too early to tell but I'm measuring right on schedule!   Yay!  She also said they don't worry about the baby being breach until 36 weeks!  I'm praying he/she will decide to turn in the next couple weeks!

Nursery furniture

Last week we got our nursery furniture delivered!  WOOHOO!  I was so excited to finally get our furniture and couldn't wait to see it set up in the baby's room!  It is so beautiful!  More beautiful than I thought it would be!  It's gorgeous!!!  I told Matt the baby now has nicer furniture than his/her parents! ha!

Here is the crib bedding!  I love koala bears and can't wait to spoil this baby with lots of koala bears!  We don't have a mattress yet so you will have to wait to see it all together in a later post!
The crib that converts into a full size bed!  This bed will be around for a long time!

Baby Basics

Last night Matt and I had our first baby class called Baby Basics!  The class is designed to answer your questions about basic newborn care.  From bathing, diapering, nutritional needs, safety issues, when to call the doctor, normal newborn behavior and how to prepare for those first weeks of parenting are some of the topics discussed!  We had a great time!  We were in the class with 5 other couples.  Our instructor was fabulous!  She's an RN labor and delivery nurse. She definitely knew her stuff!

I have been around lots of babies and even worked at a daycare in high school so I'm very comfortable around babies!  Matt on the other hand has never really been around babies!  I call him a "diaper virgin" b/c he's never changed a baby's diaper, ha!  He wants the first diaper he changes to be on his first child!  I think that's really neat!  I think the class was especially helpful for Matt!  He learned how to properly change a diaper, change their clothes, how to hold a baby and much more!  I can't wait to see him as a Dad!!!

How many of you mom's out there took a class like this before your baby's came home?  And was it helpful for your husbands?

29 weeks

It's hard to believe I turned 29 weeks yesterday!  Only 11 weeks left!  The pic above was taken at 28.3 days!  I was awoken early this morning to the phone ringing.  It was my doctor's office saying they needed to cancel my 29 week appt today and reschedule.  What a bummer!!!  Matt and I both were really looking forward to hearing baby Deepe again and just checkin in. =(  I called the dr. back and they were able to work me in on monday since it's been 5 weeks now since my last visit.

Funny story: I've read recently that if you put your ear to my belly you can faintly, I mean very faintly, hear the baby's heartbeat.  So the other night Matt and I climbed into bed and the baby was very active trying to find a good spot to sleep!  Matt reached over and started feeling the baby move then he jumped on all 4's and pressed his ear against my belly and listened!  He was listening so intently, then the baby kicked/punched the side of his face!  He jumped up and was amazed at the force of this little thing inside me!  He leaned his ear back down and the baby did it again!  It was the coolest thing to see his face!  He was just amazed and delighted to feel his baby!  I love looking down and watching my belly move all over!  I truly think I'm gonna miss feeling this little one inside once it's born!  It's our special thing!  I can feel him/her during the day when no one knows what's going on!  I love it!
