Trick or Treat

Ryan was truly the cutest pumpkin tonight for his first halloween! I put his costume on him and he was so stinkin cute! Ryan is a little too young to trick or treat since he can't even eat candy, ha but we wanted to dress him up for his first halloween.

We headed out to Uncle Steve and Aunt Teresa's house in 'burg to hang out with family and hand out candy.

We got there just in time to eat some beef stew and to get geared up for the kiddos. They have TONS trick or treaters.

Ryan was soooo good. He loved seeing all the kids dressed up. He even took about a 45 min. nap in my arms. He was all bundled up and warm in his pumpkin costume.

He stayed up past his bedtime tonight but since we turn our clocks back I'm hoping he will sleep til around his normal wake up time.

Such a happy baby!
He was just an angel today and just totally steals my heart every day!

Pretty content with Uncle Steve!

rolling, rolling, rolling

It's official....

Ryan rolled from his belly to his back today!

We were hanging out this afternoon and Ryan needed some tummy time so I flipped him over on his belly. He was holding his head up really well. He stayed like that for a little while then he used his right arm to just push himself over. I couldn't believe it. I rolled him back over to his belly and got the video camera.

And he did it again!

I'm so proud of him! He is so close to rolling from his back to his belly. I don't want him to do that yet. He rolls his legs over to the side and kicks. I'm so worried he will roll onto his belly at night and not be able to roll back over. I know I need to just need to trust God but that's hard with this momma! He is the Lord's and I know his little life is in HIS hands!

He also sat up by himself for a few min. today. I used the boppy to give him support and he actually sat for a short time. Of course this means he spits up everywhere but it's so neat to see him do new things.

So excited about this little pumpkins first halloween. We will have lots of pics to add from the weekend.

Ryan chillin in his exausaucer while I cooked dinner. It was only his 2nd time in it and he didn't know what to think about all those toys. They definitely captured his attention.

Momma's Boy

I love how we take a pic together on Sunday mornings before church. Even though we are usually running out the door but I know we will cherish these pics down the road.

This sweet smile makes waking up early so worth it everyday. So many people have told me that he even smiles with his eyes. Just love that!

Is he ready for winter or what?

This little hat is so cute and really warm. I'm sure Ryan will be sporting it alot this winter. It was chilly when we left the house yesterday morning so I had to bundle him up.

Paula Deen's Chicken Pot Pie

Paula Deen's Hurry Up Chicken Pot Pie

Oh how I LOVE Paula Deen!

I tried this recipe the other night after seeing it on Kelly's blog. I love all Paula Deen recipe's so I knew this one would be no different. Matt loved it as well so it will definitely be making a come back in the Deepe household. You can find the entire recipe here.

I have Paula Deen's dessert cookbook and it's wonderful. I love to bake so I use it all the time. I highly recommend it.
We had a great day today. We enjoyed lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with some friends in my book club. Ryan fell asleep at the end of lunch but woke up on the way home. I thought he would go right down for a nap but not so much.
After he napped about 40 min. in my arms we headed to the grocery store where Ryan was just an angel!

I just love this little boy more and more every day!

What a weekend!

Can you believe this cute and sweet little doxie named Annabelle...

could possibly do THIS???
Well she did!
I put Ryan down for his nap on Friday afternoon and went to get on facebook. I realized I hadn't heard Annabelle in about 10 min. I went to find her and found her in the laundry room where she had somehow gotten into the laundry basket and pulled out a dirty bib and just started tearing it apart. Both Annabelle and Gracie love to get Ryan's soiled bibs and lick them but I never thought they would tear one up.

Saturday we went to our friends Matt and Laura's house for game night with our old small group. We had great fun and fellowship. Ryan did awesome and we enjoyed some sweet fellowship.
He even took a short nap.

Tonight we headed over to my in-laws for Matt's Dad's 60th birthday! He turned 60 today! We got him a picture of Ryan for his birthday and he loved it. He loves his grandson!

I've noticed Ryan taking naps around 6:30 in the evening. He has only been taking a short nap in the morning and about an hour in the afternoon. Then a "cat" nap around 6:30. Oh well, guess we will just go with it. I'm just happy he is sleeping 12 hours at night!

Teething and Pumpkins

Yesterday afternoon Ryan woke up screaming from his nap. I was down stairs folding some laundry so I went up and checked on him. He was still "asleep" - his eyes were still shut and I put his paci back in and he calmed down. I went back downstairs thinking he would go right back to sleep but 5 min. later he was screaming again. I went up and he found his hand and started sucking. He immediately calmed down but was only good for about 5 min. He continued to do this for about 20 min. He had only slept about 30-45 min. and had no morning nap. When I picked him up he actually "woke" up and was just no happy. I thought for a moment about some recent behaviors...putting everything in his mouth, sucking in his bottom lip and gumming (moving his jaw up and down like he is knawing on something).

I've come to the conclusion that Ryan is in the early stages of teething. I don't expect a tooth to appear next week but I know it can be a long process.

Thankfully he slept GREAT last night and didn't fuss one time. I woke up paranoid something was wrong but he was sound asleep. He had a good nap today and slept for about an hour and half. He also took an hour morning nap.

I just love this pic! Such a cute expression.

We have a full weekend including game night with our old small group saturday night and celebrating Matt's Dad's 60th birthday on sunday. Hope we can also carve our pumpkins with the neighbors this weekend.

Beautiful Fall Day

Our day started off great! Ryan and I headed to Hobby Lobby in search of his Christmas stocking but to no avail we didn't find it. =( I'm just gonna order it online. I did find two adorable fall decorations that were 50% off. Gotta love that!

After a few other stops we headed home just in time for Ryan's 1 o'clock bottle. I had high hopes of him taking a loooong nap so that I could get a good workout in. Yeah, not so much, he slept for about 45 min and woke up crying his little heart out. I went up to get him and he was really upset. Even after I picked him up he was upset still (very unusual). I think he's teething. The doctor on monday said he wasn't teething but I think he's in the beginning stages. I don't think a tooth will appear next week but I think it's on it's way. He has been sticking everything in his mouth, gumming and sucking in his bottle lip alot.

Since it was so beautiful outside I decided to take Ryan on a walk. I thought Ryan might fall asleep since he didn't nap much but he was wide awake the whole time. But he was great and really enjoyed the fresh air.

How cute are these overalls Mrs. Shimp got Ryan. (Mrs. Shimp is the mom of Matt's childhood friend Joel). They are just the sweetest family. He was just adorable in this outfit.

We started rice cereal last night. Good thing he's naked and it was bath night. Ha! He liked it but we are still working on the spoon and swallowing. He did great opening his mouth for more.

Winter is around the corner

With winter just around the corner I did some winter clothes shopping for Ryan last week!
He has no hats except for a couple cotton ones that are newborn size.

I picked up these two adorable hats at Carter's and The Children's Place. Aren't they so cute? They are even cuter on. I will have to post a pic of Ryan wearing them soon.

I've been on the hunt for a jacket and coat for Ryan. I was pretty settled on a fleece jacket from LLBean. But I found this cutie red jacket at The Children's Place and the best thing about it is it's three jackets in one coat. It has a light weight water-proof shell, a light weight fleece and when you put the two together a good winter coat. I'm excited I found it and think it should last him the whole winter season.

My sweet little monster!

Ryan's first pair of shoes!

I couldn't pass up these adorable shoes I found at Target!
They are too cute and I can't wait for him to wear 'em.

Four Month Check Up

Ryan had his four month check up today.

Here he is in the waiting room before being called back.
It was a little unnerving watching sick kids come in and have to put on surgical masks so they didn't spread there sick germs.
I love this new look from Ryan! He started sucking in his bottom lip and it's so cute!

How big is baby Ryan?

Baby Ryan is SOOOOO Big!!!
(Ryan loves the book "So Big Elmo" b/c Elmo is SOOOO Big)

As you can see Ryan weighs 14lbs 14oz - 50%

He is 25.3 inches long - 75%.
He grew three inches from his last appointment at two months. I don't think it was very accurate but he is definitely growing taller.

And his head circumference was in the 75 percentile. His brain is growing!

Ryan got a great report today. He is growing and reaching all his milestones right on target. The doctor also told us some things to help with tummy time and rolling over. First momma needs to take his wedge out of his crib. This makes me nervous but according to studies out there, there is a higher chance of SIDS when using a wedge.

We are still trying to decide if we are gonna start solid foods. I'm anxious to but I would like to move him to eating every 4 hours during the day instead of 3. I'm gonna try this tomorrow and see how it goes. I love having him on a schedule and doing the same thing every day as far as when he eats so I'm a little nervous about messing with his schedule. I'm sure he will adjust like a champ!

Happy boy

I can't believe I have a four month old! He is growing up so fast on me! I can't wait to go to the pediatrician tomorrow and find out just how big our sweet boy is!

We had a great weekend! Yesterday we hung out in our pj's all morning and watched college football. UT was on a bi-week so we were watching other SEC games. Ryan enjoys watching the games but he also loves watching anything on tv, ha! Last night we ventured to Outback for dinner with Ryan. We were eating with the early birds since we went right after Ryan's 4pm bottle. Ryan did AWESOME and was totally content playing with his little toys in his car seat. And of course dinner was great! We finished off the night watching the South Carolina v. Alabama game.

Tonight we had some new friends over for dinner. Their son is just 2 weeks younger than Ryan. Hope they will become good buds down the road. It was fun fellowship and the boys were great! Ryan is sound asleep now and hoping we all get a good nights rest!

One Silly Monkey

I love this silly monkey! He puts a smile on my face every day!

Not too much to report on around here. This week has been pretty low key but been a good week. It's super cold out and below the average for this time of year. It's been cloudy and rainy all week which makes me want to stay home and snuggle under a warm blanket.

We did go to Joseph-Beth Bookstore on Wednesday morning for story time. They have a great set up in the children's section with steps for the kids to sit on. They not only read books but also sing songs. I know Ryan is still young and doesn't know what is going on but I think he enjoyed getting out and seeing other kids. I can definitely see us going to story time more as Ryan gets older.

This week is the second week I have been putting Ryan down in the afternoons for a nap. He eventually goes to sleep but he doesn't always go down easily. I will say we are VERY blessed with how great he goes down at night. I read him a story after bathtime and lay him down in his crib and he "talks" for a couple minutes and then he's out. Hardly ever do I have to go back into his room once I put him down. Nap time is another story. Today he did not want to nap even though I could tell he was sooooo tired. I laid him down a little before 2 and I stayed in his room til almost 2:15 trying to get him to fall asleep. Once I left the room and let him cry a little he finally fell asleep. I thought "he's gonna be down for a while, he was wearing himself out crying so". Not so much! I went downstairs to do my workout and had 5 min. left on my workout and the poor little boy is screaming his head off. At least he did sleep a little over an hour.
Last weekend we purchased a treadmill and they delivered it on Thursday. I am so excited about this machine. We belong to a great gym but we live about 20 min. from it. With this new treadmill I can get my workout done while Ryan is napping or after he goes to bed. I've used it the past two days when Ryan napped in the afternoon and it was awesome. Love, love love it!!!
