Take Me Out to the Ballgame

This weekend we enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend at home. We did venture out Saturday night to take Ryan to his first Cincinnati Reds baseball game. The game was to begin at 7pm but they were having a special anniversary celebration for Pete Rose before the game. It was 25 years ago exactly that Rose became the all-time hit leader, passing Ty Cobb.

It was a long walk to the stadium carrying a toddler but I was so excited we got these great pictures in front of Great American Ball Park before the game. We got to the stadium early so we stopped by the Reds gift shop and got Ryan his first Reds shirt. Once we went in a sweet usher told us that since it was Ryan's first game we could get a certificate for him. Of course we had to stop by and get one.

We had good seats. I was worried how Ryan would do since we would be up past his bedtime but he did alright. We were seated pretty high but we were on the first row of our section so there was a fence in front of us. Thankfully I could let Ryan stand there and he enjoyed watching the people walk by. He did good during the Pete Rose ceremony and loved watching the fans cheer. He clapped and cheered along!

Once the game started at 7 he got a little fussy but I pulled out a book and his goldfish and he sat very well in my lap. I was SO thankful he was content eating his goldfish and watching the game. We lasted til the 6th inning around 8:30 and knew it was time to go. I was so proud of him and can't wait to take him to another game.

Go Reds!!!

P.S. Once we got home we found out the game actually went to the 10th inning but the Reds pulled out a win! We would have never made it to the end of the game, ha!
