Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

Today Ryan turned TWO years old! I cannot believe I really have a two year old! Where have the past two years gone? You bring us so much joy every day and we are so proud to be your mom and dad!

This morning Ryan blessed us with sleeping til 9am. So love that he is such a good sleeper! I'm not sure I'm ready to be up in the middle of the night and early in the morning with a newborn. I hope he teaches his little brother how the sleeping needs to go around here, haha! I walked in Ryan's room this morning and he was his usual smiley self. I sang happy birthday to him and he told me he was "two" today!

Ryan loves his new table and chairs we got him for his birthday! I see many crafts and projects being done at this table!

We decided to take Ryan to get a doughnut for a little birthday treat this morning. I'm pretty sure it was his first doughnut! He weren't too sure about the glazed doughnuts but he loved the strawberry frosted with sprinkles doughnut! I think because it looks like a cupcake, his favorite sweet, ha!

After doughnuts we took Ryan to play at recreations outlet. It's a place they sell outdoor swingsets and have a whole play place set up inside for kids to play on. We had planned to take him to the sprinkler park but it was pouring down rain! He played for a good hour and just had a blast running around.

Ryan played some basketball with daddy!

And really enjoyed the roller coaster!

He had so much fun playing until you wore yourself out! We took him to Red Robin for lunch and he was ok. Sometimes I wonder why we take him out to eat because it can be so hard sometimes but for some reason I always have high hopes that he will be good. Alot of times he is really good but other times not so much! I think today he was just wore out from playing so hard. Thank goodness he came home and took a good nap.

Tonight Aunt Erin, Uncle Brad, Gail and Randy came over to have birthday dinner with us. Ryan had fun showing everyone his new toys and having so much attention. We grilled hamburgers with corn on the cob and baked beans for dinner. After dinner we sang happy birthday to Ryan and he got to eat his cupcake. Of course that was his favorite part of the night, ha!

It was such a fun day and I am so thankful to have such a wonderful and sweet little boy.

Ryan,
For the past two years you have been a true gift! Your smile lights up our lives! We think you are the cutest thing in the world and I don't think we could ever give you enough hugs and kisses. You are not perfect but you are OURS and we love you so much!

I can't wait to see what the next few weeks, months and years hold and watch you grow and change. I am treasuring these last few days with you as my only child. I know that you are going to adore you little brother Colton and I pray that you will be best friends. I can't wait to watch you as a big brother.

Happy birthday sweet boy! We love you SO much!!!!

Birthday Eve

I remember Sunday, June 14 like it was yesterday! I was 39 weeks pregnant with Ryan and I woke up with different and strong contractions. I had been having contractions for the previous few days but I knew these were the real deal and it was time to head to the hospital!

I timed my contractions in bed and after about 30 minutes I woke Matt up and told him we should head to the hospital! We arrived at the hospital Sunday afternoon around 2 and I was 80% effaced and 3 cm dilated. After observing me for an hour I wasn't progressing so they sent us home. We got home and my contractions quickly started getting stronger.

By 8pm I told Matt I thought we needed to go back to the hospital. I was in some major pain. The pain was so strong it made my toes curl! We got the dogs situated and headed back to the hospital knowing we would welcome our son into the world very soon!

I cannot believe that was two years ago! Where does the time go? I've been told that the time goes even quicker with your second child. I want to cherish this time and wish I could freeze those sweet moments. It's hard for me not to get teary eyed thinking these are the last few days that Ryan and I have together just the two of us. I am SO excited to welcome Colton in our family but Ryan has been my WORLD for the past two years!
This morning we headed to the pool to enjoy some sun and fun! Ryan just has the best time playing in the water. It was the 70's so there was hardly anyone there! It was nice to basically have the pool to ourselves!

Such a fun day just my boy and I! Even though we have our trying times with his business and selective hearing, I never get enough of him!

Everyone always comments on how much Ryan smiles and how happy he is! I hope he never loses that! Every time I walk into his room after he wakes up he always has the best smile on his face. He is the light in our lives. We are so blessed to have such a sweet boy.

37 Weeks

I'm 37 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 37 Weeks
Size of baby: Colton is around 6.3 lbs - about the size of a watermelon
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 17 lbs
Maternity Clothes: I wear maternity jeans and pants but everything else is regular. I'm down to just a few things I can still fit into. ha!
Gender: It's a boy!!!! Colton Matthew Deepe
Movement: He is VERY active - especially in the afternoon and at night. I feel elbows and knees regularly and feet up in my ribs.
Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good!
What I miss: Nothing really - maybe sleeping on my stomach? Or bending over? ha!
Cravings: I've lost my appetite lately - I think maybe my stomach has run out of room? Loving snow cones right now!
Symptoms: Lately I've been having a lot of pressure - mostly because he is low and it's the second pregnancy. I am exhausted at the end of the day!
Best Moment this week: SO THANKFUL to be full term!!!! That is a HUGE praise! I had a doctors appointment on Friday and Colton had a great heartbeat of 141 bpm. He loves to hang out near my heartbeat so the nurse usually has a hard time getting just his heartbeat on the doppler. I am a finger tip dilated and I've only dropped a little. I'm so glad Ryan had such a great party on Saturday! Now I am ready to welcome Colton into our family but hoping he stays put for about 10 more days!

Ryan's 2nd Birthday Party

Ryan's actual birthday is not until Wednesday the 15th but we celebrated today. Ryan's 2nd birthday party was a Mickey Mouse theme at The Little Gym. This was his invitation!

I'm so sad my parents and brother weren't able to be there since they will be coming in a few weeks when Colton is born. We missed them terribly but will definitely celebrate when they see him.

We were so blessed to have so many of our family and friends at the party. It was so nice to have Ryan's party at a fun place and not our house. I didn't have to clean before or after or stress too much. We just showed up with cupcakes and cookies and the rest was done. I hope all the kids had fun - I know Ryan had the BEST time!
Ryan didn't want to leave my side at first but he eventually warmed up to all the fun. Ryan played so hard running around the gym while Matt and I took pictures and videos. I was thankful to have his Papou and Yaya to play and chase after him.

Will showing off some of his gymnastic skills on the even bars! Ha! Will is in Tumblebees with Ryan so they are used to running around the gym.

We had a small injury and a little blood. Ryan stubbed his toe at the pool the other day and it must have opened up again because his toe started bleeding. Poor kid didn't understand he needed to keep the band-aid on.

The kids loved the blow up trampoline! Big hit!

Ryan is just crazy about his Dada! He says Dada only about 100 times a day!

We "tried" to get a group picture but getting a group of kids under the age of 3 was impossible. This was the best we could do. Ha! Just shows you true life right!

Always a favorite - bubbles!!! or as Ryan calls them "pop pops".

Ryan was completely obsessed with the blower they use to blow up the trampoline. Here are all the fun "toys" to play with and he picks the blower machine! Ha!

Snack Table

I made chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Honestly it didn't take me long and they taste much better than store bought! Love the cupcake toppers I found on Etsy! I will definitely find a way to use them again!

Of course I had cookies for everyone to snack on!

The kids enjoying pizza and food!

Ryan wouldn't eat any of his pizza and was completely obsessed with his capri sun. I never give him a juice box so he was in heaven. (I dilute his apple juice in a sippy cup) He was even picking up other capri suns that kids weren't drinking.

Singing Happy Birthday to Ryan and blowing out the candle. I don't think he ever REALLY realized it was HIS birthday party. Ha!

He takes his cupcake eating serious! This was probably Ryan's favorite part of his party! Any time he sees cake or cupcakes (even pictures) he goes nuts but he only gets them every few months. I told him yesterday he could have a cupcake at his party and he was thrilled.

My two favorite and handsome guys!

Cookie favors for the kids!

I'm so glad we got a family picture right before we left. Love this picture even though we were so hot and Ryan has cake all over his face. I will treasure it forever! This could be our last photo as a family of 3!!!! Wow, that's hard to believe!

It was such a fun day and we are so blessed to have such awesome friends and family!!!!!!
I'm exhausted!!!
I can't believe I have an almost two year old!

Splash Park

Today we met some of our MOPS friends at the splash park to play and cool off. This was Ryan's first time at a water park and he jumped right in and loved it! He wasn't intimidated at all! He had a blast watching and playing in the sprinklers.
He had alot of fun but this momma was so worn out. He was busy as usual today and the park was pretty crowded. He would go from the water side to the regular park. It was hot and I was exhausted by the time we left. I'm hoping to take him to another splash park next week on his birthday!

I'm trying to cherish these last few days I have with just Ryan and I. He is so sweet right now and at such a fun age. I'm so glad we can do so much together.

This afternoon we filled up his little pool in the backyard and he jumped right in! Matt came home from work and started mowing the yard while Ryan played in his water table. All you need to keep this little guy busy is a water table and running water hose.

Nursery Tour

Even though we are officially still waiting on Colton's dresser and Ryan's chest to come in I wanted to go ahead and post about Ryan's new room and Colton's nursery. When I had Ryan we didn't know if he was a boy or girl so we went with a gender neutral theme with green and brown walls! Since we know Colton is a boy this time around I was excited to make his nursery more boyish!

I love that I have Colton's name on his bedding! Matt keeps saying "what are you gonna do if it's a girl". I say we will be just as thrilled and she will have lots of blue things, ha! I'm fairly confident he is really Colton!

I ordered the bedding from Polka Tot Designs and I absolutely LOVE it! It is so pretty and I hope he enjoys it as much as I do. I have always loved blue and brown so I knew I wanted to do his nursery in blues and brown. Plus that meant I only had to paint half of the walls.

I love his crib too! I'm excited that it's a convertible crib (it converts to a toddler and full size bed) and will hopefully last a long time.

When I ordered his bedding I also ordered a pillow and blanket in the same fabric! I'm so glad I did! They are adorable! I love Colton's new room and I can't wait for him to be in it!

I still need to get drapes. I'm going with just plain chocolate brown drapes. His dresser/changing table matches Ryan's dresser/changing table. It will go where the basket on the left is.

Ryan moved to the bedroom next door to the nursery. It has been a very easy transition and he has done fantastic. This picture is looking into his room from the doorway. I will eventually have a scripture painting done for over his dresser. And the chest we ordered will go on the opposite wall of the dresser.

The comforter in the rocking chair is for his big boy bed. I love the pattern and think it goes great with the walls and furniture. Not sure when he will move into a big bed. We are keeping him in his crib as long as we can. Why change what's working!

So there are the Deepe boys' rooms! That's a mouth full, ha! They are still a work in progress but I really love how they are coming along.

Snowcones and Water Fun

Those are about the only two things that sound good the past few days! It's only the beginning of June but it's been super hot here! The last few days we've been in the 90's. It is HOT and humid! We've spent the last two days at the pool because really there is really nothing else you can do outside.
This afternoon after Ryan's nap we went down to the bike trail to get some snowcones. I've been craving them lately and it was a fun treat to cool off. I got strawberry flavor and decided to get Ryan his own snowcone since I didn't really want to share, ha! I got him banana flavor so it wouldn't ruin his clothes when he got it all over himself.

Do you think he liked it???

I might have just created a monster! Haha!!!

He absolutely loved it and did pretty good feeding himself. He was still a mess but he refused to let me help him! Good thing we got the banana!

Yesterday I pulled out his water table and took it outside for him to play in! He got it last year but he was still too little to really enjoy it! He has absolutely loved playing in it the last two days! He is such a water baby and I am so thankful! He loves water so much! I can't wait to see what he does when we get out his little pool in the backyard!

His favorite thing to do is pour water on himself and then laugh! It's pretty cute! After he soaked himself I just stripped him down to his diaper!

What do you do to stay cool in the HOT-HOT summer?
