Keeping It Real

I know it may seem like I have it all together and everything is just peachy all the time. Well, that's not reality. I must first say I am SO blessed to have a wonderful and loving husband who works hard for our family, super supportive of me and loves us like crazy and would do anything for us. We have SO much and I am reminded every day how blessed we are to have a roof over our heads and food on the table.

I use my blog to record our family's life and struggles are just a part of that. I want to be real. I can honestly say it's the good, the bad and the ugly.
All this to say it's been a tough week around here, especially the last 24 hours! Colton is waking every 2-3 hours at night and has only given me a few four hour stretches.

Last night I gave him the dream feed at 11 and he was up screaming at 1am. I gave him the paci and was able to hold him off until 2am. I fed him then laid him back down. I went back to sleep at 3am and he was up again at 5:30. He would reluctantly take his paci then fall back asleep for a few minutes. This went on for an hour until I finally fed him at 6:30am. I'm exhausted to say the least.
Ryan woke up fussy this morning. Who knows why! Most of our frustration these days with Ryan are either when he cannot tell us what he wants or it's his deliberate disobedience.

He is definitely teaching me patience these days and many times I have to remember to count to ten and not lose my mind.
After we had breakfast and I fed Colton his 10am bottle we headed to the park for some fresh air. We walked around the walking trail then I let Ryan play on the playground. Both boys did great and it was nice to finally enjoy some cooler weather, well, ha 80 degrees. Oh I forgot to mention when I got in the car this morning the light came on to check tire pressure. Perfect! Thankfully we made it home without any problems.

There are definitely days I wouldn't mind sitting in front of a computer in an office enjoying the peace and quiet but I am SO thankful for my sweet boys and wouldn't trade staying home with them for the world. Life is about the good, the bad and the ugly.

Fun Playdate

This morning the boys and I met Anissa and her crew at the park for a walk. It was so nice out and not too hot. The kids did great and it was a good workout. So glad it's finally cooled down some so we can get out!

After our walk we went to my friend Ruth's house for a playdate with Nicholas and Emelynn. Elizabeth and Quinn came too! Ryan had a blast playing with all of Nicholas' toys. Isn't it funny how the same toys are so much more fun at someone else's house, haha! And why do kids always want the toy that the other kid has? Crack me up! Doesn't matter the toy, they always want the same one! Any good ideas on teaching toddlers how to share?

Here are the babies! Emelynn and Colton! They are just five days apart. They were so good and so cute!

Us moms were able to let the kids play and sit and feed the babies. I love that there is no stress about melt downs and tantrums. We totally relate to each other and completely understand our crazy lives right now.

I didn't take my good camera this morning and only had my point and shoot. Colton looks completely different in this picture than he does in person. His hair looks much darker and fuller. I think he's going through a growth spurt right now because he is wanting to eat every 2 1/2 hours and he's taking 4 oz at a time. I'm hoping he keeps up eating more in hopes that he will sleep longer at night!

Our Weekend in Pictures

We didn't do too much around here this weekend! It was nice to stay home and chill! We went to the pool on Saturday and Ryan played in his water table some.
While Ryan played in the water table Colton napped.
There's nothing sweeter than a baby sleeping!
And I know I posted similar pictures to these last week but I had to share these as well. I dressed the boys in their matching shirts on Friday. I laid Colton on his mat to play in the afternoon and Ryan, without prompting, decided to lay down next to Colton and wanted his picture taken.
I love that Ryan calls Colton "Tolton" right now. Poor little guy can't say the 'K' sound. Still pretty cute!

As Nike Says...Just Do It

Today I took both boys to Chick-fil-A for lunch. It's been so hot outside it's even too hot to go to the pool. Colton is too young to go in the water and I just worry about him overheating.

We went to CFA today to have lunch and play in the playground. I love the customer service at CFA. They always offer to bring my food to the table which is huge! Ryan ate great and had a blast playing. I was proud of myself for going and not losing it handling two kids.

This past Monday I decided it was time to get back in the saddle and get back to working out! On Monday I ran/walked on the treadmill for thirty minutes. Tuesday I did cardio resistance training. It totally kicked my butt and I was SO sore the next day! We did so many squats in crt I could barely walk up and down the stairs for two days. Today I ran/walked for thirty minutes on the treadmill and I feel great. I'm looking forward to doing cardio kickboxing tomorrow morning! It feels so good to workout again. I'm hoping these last few "baby" pounds (10 more to get to prepregnancy weight) just melt away!
And lastly I had to include another picture of Colton because I just couldn't decide which picture I liked better. He is so yummy I could just eat him with a spoon!

Doctors visit and sweet moments

This morning I had my six week post delivery doctor's appointment. I can't believe that Colton will be six weeks old on Monday! It feels like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.

I had a wonderful delivery with Colton and I'm feeling almost back to normal! It's really amazing what your body goes through with pregnancy and delivery then heals so fast.

Dr. Lee is the doctor who delivered Colton. She was a wonderful doctor and I'm so glad that she was the one who delivered Colton.

Ryan had his last day of camp this morning. He did great and really enjoyed playing with his friends. We came home after camp for lunch and naps. I captured this sweet brotherly moment. I have to remind Ryan often to be careful around Colton. He usually doesn't pay Colton much attention but when I asked him to lay down beside Colton he quickly jumped down there next to him. So sweet, I love this picture!

Another moment I captured was yesterday before we headed down to our neighbors house to play with friends. Our neighbors down the street have twin boys a few months older than Ryan. They sweetly invited us to come down to play so I loaded the boys up in the double stroller. As you can see they weren't as excited about it as I was. They were excited about playing but Colton was hungry and Ryan wanted to walk! I love my double stroller, it's fabulous!

Our days

We've been busy the last few weeks so I decided we needed a calm day at home. I like being busy and on the go but I must admit it's nice to be home and chill in my pj's all day. I decided to take advantage of the down time and get some cleaning done.

For me cleaning is like therapy and when I get started I don't want to stop. I can be borderline OCD and like everything in it's place. It makes the anxious when things are unorganized and in disarray. I felt very productive yesterday cleaning some much neglected areas of our home.
This morning Ryan had summer camp. He's been somewhat clingy to me the past few days which is very unlike him. On Sunday when I dropped him off at his sunday school class at church he totally flipped out and didn't want to let go of me. It was completely out of character for him. They said he calmed down quickly and had a blast playing and singing songs.

Yesterday while we were home he followed me around the entire day. This morning I kept talking to him about camp and seeing all his friends. When I dropped him off he was a little unsure and clung to me a little but once he saw his friends he was fine and went right on it. I'm guessing it's the adjustment to Colton and having a new little brother. He's definitely acted out more and continues to test us but for the most part he's been so good since Colton was born. We've tried to give him the same amount of attention and love we always have.
While Ryan was at camp Colton and I had breakfast with my friend Jennifer. She has three boys so she was full of advice about raising boys. It's so funny how I thought eating out with a newborn was hard. I was always worried Ryan would start crying or get fussy. I laugh at that now because eating with a newborn is EASY compared to eating with a two year old!!! Colton was so good and slept most of the time.
I just loves these two boys so much! I cannot get enough hugs and kisses lately. I definitely have times that I am frustrated with them and need a break but when Ryan crawls in my lap and wants to watch Mickey while eating his snack, it totally makes up for all those hard days!

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend around here! We made it to church on Sunday and I'm glad to say it was a little easier this week to get us all out the door. We were still late but hey, we made it and weren't yelling at each other in the car!
We spent Saturday morning at the pool! Matt played with Ryan in the pool while I fed and chilled with this little guy! Not a bad way to spend a Saturday huh! Then we headed to our favorite place, Chick-fil-A of course. Ryan pretty much asks for chicken for lunch every day. He loves PBJ sandwiches but I guess that's a little harder to say than chicken, ha!

Saturday afternoon I snuck away to do a little shopping all by myself. It was glorious!!! I got a few things for the boys on sale for next summer and got myself some new clothes as well! I am dying to get rid of my maternity clothes and back into some cute clothes that aren't shorts and t-shirts.
Sunday we took the boys over to see Papau and Yaya's and swim in their community pool. Ryan had a blast spending time with his grandparents. And no surprise Colton slept the entire time we were there! This boy loves to sleep!
Sunday morning before leaving for church I attempted my first picture holding both boys. Almost forty pounds of pure sweetness in my arms!

Oh my they are heavy. I should use them for my workout, oh wait, I already do! It's a workout carrying these two around all day, haha!
We enjoyed a fun weekend and now we are gearing up for another full week!
