Course 3 Cake

It's been a while since my last post.  It's been pretty busy around here!  I am in the middle of course 3 in my wilton cake decorating class!  This was the cake I did for class on Monday!  It's a white cake covered in fondant (a cream confection used as a coating for cakes to give a smooth appearance).  The bow, ribbon and spirals are all made of rolled fondant!  I am really liking fondant!  It's like play-doh!  And it makes the cakes look beautiful however, it tastes really bad!  I've heard home-made fondant tastes much better than store bought.

Matt and I have been thoroughly enjoying the Olympics this week!  We especially like swimming (I'm convinced Michael Phelps is a fish), and gymnastics!  Matt can't wait for Track and Field to start this weekend!  Not one of my favorite events!  We decided to add to our list of things to do is go to the Olympics!  How amazing would that be?  Definitely would have to be the summer Olympics.  Hopefully one day we will make it!

Summer, your cakes are beautiful! I agree that homemade fondant tastes better! And going to the Olympics should definitely be on your list of things to do one day. Glad to see you're doing well!

I can't tell you how impressed I am. Seriously. Wow. You really do need to start that little side business going. Build it up, make some money, and go into business for yourself! Seriously. There are teachers at my school who got a hold of this one "cake man" who was married to another teacher there. He made one cake a week for all those women. You find your niche, you'll take off!
