Mother's Day Weekend 2013

Happy Mother's Day to the best mom in the world!!!  

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and amazing momma!  She has always been there for me, cared for me and given me advice.  She has always been my biggest supporter and encourager.  Both my parents have been so supportive and for that I am SO thankful!  Thank you Lord for giving me the best mom and dad in the world.  

The boys woke me up yesterday by climbing in my bed and giving me my mother's day cards.  I loved the snuggles and loved their sweet cards.  Matt took the boys downstairs to enjoy some special doughnuts while I got ready for the day!

Love these sweet brothers!  Ryan loves to introduce Colton to everyone he meets.  He will say "I'm Ryan and this is Colton, he's my brother".  Melt my heart!!!  Love these two monkeys!

After a great church service we headed to Tano for mother's day brunch.  The boys were pretty good.  Our neighbors were sitting close by and they said they were impressed with how well Ryan and Colton were acting.  She said her kids didn't act that well at that age in the McDonalds drive-thru.  Ha!  It was a yummy lunch and so glad to spend time with my boys!

We came home and the boys took naps while Matt studied and I worked on cookies.  We meet Papau, Yaya, Nana Nicki, Uncle Michael and Aunt Erin for dinner Sunday night.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner and the boys did well until the very end.  They both ate like champs, they were hungry since they didn't eat much lunch.  Maybe it was the three donuts Ryan had that morning, uh!  Colton got antsy towards the end so Matt just took him to the car.  It was a great time and so glad we got to celebrate with everyone!

I am SO blessed to be the mom of these two sweet boys!  They are the best things in my life (besides Matt of course) and I love them so much!  I count my blessings every day!

Foodie Friday

I love love love this picture of Ryan!  It might just be my favorite!  

I have been slacking lately with taking pictures of the boys.  They are both so busy it's hard to get them to sit still.  

And have I mentioned we are in the throes (no pun intended, haha) of the terrible twos!  Oh Lordy Lordy, this boy can throw some fits like none other.  

Tonight was pizza night!  I was talking to the boys and said loudly "raise your hand if you want pizza for dinner!"  Sweet little C bear raised his hand and goes "MEEEEE".  It was the cutest thing in the world!  Of course Ryan said "me" too!

Lastly this has to be the shortest recipe I've ever posted!  I made this last week for our small group and it was light and yummy!  

Banana Pudding Cake!  Yellow cake (make according to box), poke holes, instant banana pudding poured over top. Whipped cream and crushed nilla waffers.    

Thursday

 I feel like May is one of the busiest months in the year.  I guess with the school year ending and the beginning of summer there are just alot of things to wrap up.  

Ryan has just one week of preschool left! Sad =(  He told me tonight he is going to miss school! Thankfully he will have a fun summer with a few weeks of camp, swimming lessons and some Little Gym mixed in.  

I'm looking forward to a slower pass and just having fun with the boys.  I love to stay busy but sometimes it's nice to just say "hey, what do you want to do today?  Hang at the pool? sounds good".  

I've been busy this week with some teacher appreciation cookie orders and things for our last Mops meeting we had today.  

Ryan celebrated his birthday at school today since it's in June.  He wanted to take donuts as snack so that's what we got! Ha!  Sounds great and easy to me!   Too bad he brought home about a dozen that have just been staring at me begging me to take a bite!  It's hard for me to resist a doughnut.  

It was also Farmer Frank day at school.  Farmer Frank brings all his farm animals for the kids including a goat, ducks, baby ducks, bunnies, sheep and a piglet.  Ryan loved telling me all about it.  He said his favorite was the piglet! It was pretty cute.  I'm so thankful for a wonderful preschool Ryan loves!

 And lastly, I made these pharmacy cookies last week for a friend of a friends whose daughter just graduated from pharmacy school!

Muffins with Mom

 

Today was muffins with mom at Ryan's preschool!  Do you see this sweet boy?  Don't let that little smirk fool you, he was so excited to have his mommy at school.  He's so funny!  We had such a fun time and I am SO thankful to spend the morning with my favorite three year old.  Who by the way he tells me all the time he will be four years old in June.  

Ryan's little friends at school singing for all their moms.  Ryan is in the back on the right hand side.  You can barely see his head.  The kids were adorable singing!  His teacher told me today that he loves to sing in chapel and always sings loud.  Many nights I hear him in his room singing after we put him to bed.  It's all music to my ears!  

Happy Derby Day

On Saturday night Matt and I went to a Kentucky Derby party!  It was SO fun and we had the best time!

Here are the amazing hosts, Jarrod and Laura!  Laura throws the best parties.  Her attention to detail is impeccable and everything is just beautiful.  She put together a fun southern menu for the derby party including pork tenderloin sandwiches, mini hot browns, mini key lime pies, meatballs and mini kentucky derby pies.  

 

I made these fun and adorable jokey shirts and girlie hat cookies for the party!

It was SO fun!  All the ladies dressed up and wore beautiful hats while the guys dressed up in suits.  Of course Matt was not thrilled to dress up.  They had betting on the races and Matt actually won $174.00 on the race.  He only bet $2 but he put it on Orb (the winner) and no one else bet on him.  Woohoo!  Way to go sweetie!  Don't forget, mother's day is next week! ;)

I was getting ready before the party and Ryan was watching Disney on our bed.  I put my hat on and he goes "mommy, you look like a cowboy".  HA!  I laughed so hard.  Not exactly what I was going for but I guess that's all he knows that wear hats.

We had the BEST time laughing and sharing stories.  My face was seriously sore when we left from smiling and laughing so much.  We decided we need to make it a yearly event.

TGIF

 It has been a busy week around here.  I had three good size cookie orders and even though Matt was on break from school the whole week he was busy with his "honey do" list.  We had mulch delivered on Friday so he spent most of the day Thursday weeding the flower beds and all day Friday, and part of Saturday morning, putting out the mulch in the flower beds.  I was working on cookies the whole time he was outside.  We are glad to finally rest and relax this weekend. 

Matt finished his first semester strong.  He got a 4.0gpa.  Slacker, I expected more from him, j/k!  He is such a good student and so disciplined.  So thankful it's him going back to school and not me!  Whew!  He really enjoyed his accounting classes so he is confident that he made the right decision and is on the right path God ordained.  He is taking summer classes beginning Monday through August.  He is ready to knock it out and get to work.  I'm so thankful for a godly husband who is willing to take the risk to go after what he wants and not just settle for mediocre.  

Chicken Parmesan Casserole

One of my all time favorite food is Chicken Parmesan.  I found this recipe on Pinterest a while back but just tried it for dinner this week.  It has quickly become a favorite!  It was SO good and SO easy.  It only took about 10 mintues to assemble and only 35 minutes to cook.  The croutons on top made it crunchy while the chicken was juicy and flavorful on the bottom.

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Cloves Garlic crushed
6 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
2 Cups Marinara Sauce
1/4 Cup Basil
8oz Mozzarella (shredded)
4oz Parmesan (grated)
1 (5oz) package garlic croutons

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a 9x13 casserole dish pour olive oil on bottom and sprinkle basil and crushed garlic.  Mix together coating the entire bottom of the dish.

Place uncooked chicken breast in casserole dish.  Pour marinara sauce over chicken breast.  Spread half mozzarella and half parmesan on marinara sauce.  Sprinkle croutons evenly over the top of the cheese.  Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the croutons.

Cook in 350 degree oven, uncovered, for 35 minutes.
