Good Day

Matt wanted to take off work last week while my family was in town but he had too much going on at work. He needed a break from work in a bad way so he took off work today. We thought about going to the pumpkin farm but there was rain in the forecast and it has suddenly turned chilly.

This morning all four of us when to the gym. Matt and I did a fitness class and it was nice to work out together. This afternoon we both got lots done during nap time. Matt mowed the grass and did some yard work and I worked on Ryan's photo book. (I really need to finish his book so I can start on Colton's. I made alot of progress today, yay.)

Tonight we moved Ryan to his new booster seat at the dinner table. We got him a new seat since Colton will be using the high chair in a month or so when he starts food. I can't believe that my baby is going to start baby food in a month!!! Time is going by too fast.

Ryan loved his new seat and ate so well tonight. I think he really felt like a big boy. So proud of him. He was such a sweet and good boy today! Makes those hard days so worth it!

Seasons

Yesterday I was reading a blog post about how parenthood and raising children are a season in life. As we were driving to the gym this morning I was pointing out to Ryan all the trees and the leaves that have changed colors. I was explaining to him how we have different seasons of the year. As I was telling him about the seasons I thought about the different seasons in life.

Right now we are in a season of changing diapers, bottle feeding, spit up, fussy two year olds, whining, oh the whining BUT we are also in a season of rocking a sweet sleeping baby, discovery, new words, grandparent love, hugs and kisses, playing games and puzzles on the floor together, singing songs in the car, reading books, the fact Ryan wants to sit in my lap all the time, giggling and playing when Matt comes home from work.

I want to cherish all these things because they are just here for a season and will be gone before I know it.

Most days I am just exhausted by the time my head hits the pillow. Ryan and Colton need so much of us right now. Sometimes it's hard to be in the moment and enjoy this season in life because it will not last forever. I know the next season in life will be wonderful but I want to remember to enjoy and treasure every day!

Three Months

Colton - You are THREE months old!!!!

What have you been up to this month???

I cannot believe you are already three months old! The time is just flying TOO fast!

You weigh 13 pounds and wear size 3 month clothes and starting to wear 3-6 month clothes. You wear size 1 diapers but I think will soon be in size 1-2.

You eat on a three hour schedule during the day beginning around 7am. You take five 5 oz bottles during the day and a dream feed bottle between 10-1:30. You are sleeping through the night and we are SO glad. You went for a few weeks where you were waking up multiple times in the night and just needed your paci but for the last week you have slept from around 8pm to around 7am. We are SO glad you are a good sleeper.

You are the sweetest, easiest baby! You are just so content and love to watch your big brother and look around to see what is going on around you.

You are not big on your paci. You just don't cry very much so no need for the paci. You only cry when you are hungry or real tired.

You love to watch your big brother Ryan. He has basically ignored you for the last 3 months but just in the last couple days he has taken a liking to you and comes over to talk and smile at you. I know you two will get along better as you get more mobile and interactive.

I love seeing your sweet smile. You love when we play patty cake with you and you just smile so big.

So wild how you look so different from Ryan. You have lots of dark hair and gray/brown eyes. Ryan had just a little blonde hair at this age.

Your eyes have been a gray color but they are starting to turn brown. I'm pretty sure you will be brown eyed like the rest of us! =)

You had your first time in the church nursery last week at MOPS. I'm sure we will put you in there on sundays soon.

Sometimes it's hard to believe you are already three months old and other times I can't remember what life was like before we had you! You are such a sweet pure joy and we are SO blessed to have you in our family! I can't imagine not having you! Your sweet smile just lights up my world.

You are starting to look more like Ryan. You both look lots like your daddy but I think you both look like me some too, ha! I can't wait to see what you will look like at 6, 9 and 12 months.

Family Weekend

We had a great weekend with my family here! Saturday Ryan and Matt went to tumbebees while my parents and I chilled at home with sweet Colton.

Ryan got completely spoiled by his nana and granddad. I honestly think they had the best time because Ryan could talk with them and interact so much with them. He loves his nana and granddad and they are crazy about him! They played tons and enjoyed watching mickey mouse.

We had one chance to get a good family pic on sunday morning before church so I told everyone we needed to be ready to leave early to allow time for pictures. I think we've only had one other family picture of the four of us. We are going to have professional family pics done at the end of october so hopefully we get some good ones.

My parents headed back home to Memphis this morning. We had such a great visit with them and can't wait to see them again!

Date Night 1 and 2

My parents have been gracious enough to give Matt and I two dates nights out while they watch the boys. Matt had to work on Friday so that night we headed out to El Coyote's, a mexican joint, for dinner. It was wonderful and nice to get away with just my honey!

We had planned to get away for the whole afternoon and evening but that just didn't happen between Matt having to do yard work and working out and Colton didn't nap very well. We did make it to Longhorn for dinner. It was so good! Then we went to get ice cream. I finally got my pandora charms I've been waiting on since Colton was born.

The boys did great and had such a fun time with Nana and Granddad! I told them they are gonna need a week of vacation after being with these wild boys.

MOPS Thursday

Today we had our first MOPS meeting for the year. I was so excited to see all my friends I've missed over the summer. It was like the first day of school again! Colton had his first time in the nursery and he did awesome. He got loved and snuggled on the whole time. He's such a charmer!

My parents are in town visiting so Ryan is getting quit spoiled as well. He is LOVING all the attention and I know my parents are loving getting to spend lots of quality time with him. He was so hyper today. He had a ball playing with them and showing off all the new things he's doing. They are also getting in some snuggle time with Colton of course.

Disney Store and a Win

This morning we went to the mall to run some errands and have lunch. Our mall just opened a brand new disney store so we had to go check it out. They used to have lots of disney stores when I was alot younger but they all closed. Glad to see they have brought them back.

We walked in and Ryan was star struck. He spotted mickey mouse and got so excited. They have a cute little area for kids with a giant tv projector along with paper and crayons for kids to play. Ryan was a little distracted by all his clubhouse friends to even think about coloring. We didn't buy anything but I saw lots of Christmas present ideas.

We had a big thing happen in our house last night that I want to document. Last night I gave Ryan some peaches before giving him the rest of his dinner. I normally give him either peaches or pears first or he won't eat them at all. Sometimes he eats them and sometimes he doesn't.

Last night he at was eating most of his peaches but left about 4-5 bits. I told him he needed to eat a few more peaches before he could have his chicken. Oh my the battle had began!!! We battled with him, including time out, for about thirty minutes until finally he ate the remaining peaches on his plate. It was SO hard and I wanted to give in SO many times. I'm so glad I didn't and we won this battle. Now I just need courage to continue to be strong.

Weekend and Art

We had a good weekend around here! Saturday I got up early and went to the gym while Matt held the fort down with the boys. I came home and we watching college game day and then some football games.

We watched the TN/FL game but it sadly ended in defeat. TN lost one of their main receiver on the first play and it all went down hill from there. Hope they can pull it together before the next game.

Saturday night Matt picked up chipotle for dinner and then we chilled in front of the tv and watched more football. Lately we are just exhausted by the time we put the kids to bed at 8. We usually clean up toys and clean bottles and crash on the couch.

Love these pictures of the boys from sunday morning! Ryan has been getting very jealous lately if I give Colton any attention at all. Ryan did not like me taking a picture with Colton even though I had just taken a picture with him. Of course he calmed down once I picked them both up.

I found this blog awhile back of a sweet girl named Stacey who does these amazing canvas paintings. I asked her to do a canvas verse painting for both the boys' rooms. I selected these two verses for them and I think they are just perfect for them.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE them both. I sent Stacey a picture of both of their rooms, Colton's nursery and Ryan's big boy room. The one above is in Colton's room. I love the polka dots and the colors were perfect! I'm already thinking his big boy room will have to be brown and blue so I can keep this painting up.

This one is in Ryan's room. The colors are perfect and go great with his big boy bedding. I love this verse and it's my prayer for both my boys. I pray they will grow up to know the Lord and know He has an amazing plan for their lives.

If you are interested in ordering canvas paintings from Stacey you can go to her Etsy site HERE. And you can see some of her other work on her BLOG.

Brothers

So this was the best picture I could get this morning of the two of them together. Ryan would not take his eyes off of mickey mouse clubhouse and he enjoyed a little too much me asking him over and over to come sit beside his little brother. I love this picture though. Ryan could care less and Colton looks like he's saying "What in the world mom, seriously"! Hilarious!

I don't have many matching outfits for Ryan and Colton yet. I guess because I haven't bought too many things for Colton. Since they are 2 years and 12 days apart Colton wears all of Ryan's hand me downs. I will admit I have purchased some adorable outfits I just couldn't resist for Colton. Today is the first real day that I put them in matching outfits. Colton's pants are size 6 months so they are way to big still. Ryan's shirt is the one we used to tell our family that we were pregnant with Colton.

This morning we had Ryan's twelve month check for his tubes. Thankfully we didn't have to wait that long but being trapped, I mean waiting, in the tiny room with Colton sleeping peacefully and Ryan basically rolling on the gross floor and trying to keep him from touching every medical device in the room I was a sweating and glad we don't go to the doctor often. He said his tubes look perfect and haven't moved at all so hoping they stay put through the winter cold season. Of course I rewarded Ryan for his uh somewhat patience with some chicken from chick-fil-a!

Pajama Day

I am feeling a little under the weather today so I declared it a pajama day for everyone!

Park day

Yesterday we went to the park with our neighbors Josh and Jake down the street. They are three months older than Ryan and they play so well together. We met some more of their friends at the park and everyone had a blast running around. The kids played for almost two hours! They were all wore out by the end and ready for naps! =)

I'm afraid it might be one of our last warm days before we are hit with fall and honestly that is just fine with me. I am ready for some cooler temps. Just don't want old man winter to get here too soon.

I did a mini photo shoot with Colton yesterday morning. I turned mickey mouse on for Ryan then took Colton upstairs to his room. Ryan gets very jealous when I try to take a picture of Colton. It was much easier to take him upstairs.

And how cute is this little guy smiling? So precious! I finally remembered yesterday that I would play patty cake with Ryan to get him to smile. Colton absolutely LOVES to play patty cake and smiles so big. I'm going to try and get Matt to take a pic of it later. It's hard to do patty cake and quickly grab the camera to capture his smile.

First day of "school"

Today was Ryan's first day of Mother's Day Out! I am so excited for him and know he is going to love it! We've been practicing saying the word school the last few days. He was so cute saying "yay school" all morning long.

Ryan was so excited to take his backpack and lunch box to school! He was saying "cheeeese" here!

When we got to his room Ryan didn't want me to leave and was a little unsure at first. I was telling him he is going to have so much fun and play with his new friends. His teacher came over to welcome him and after about a minute he promptly turned around and said "bye mommy". I was so proud of him! My little boy is growing up SO fast!

This was his little report for the day. I love how they give these and I get an idea of how his morning was. Makes me such a proud mom!

Colton and I came home home and took a walk around the neighborhood. I showered and we ran a quick errand then it was time to go pick up Ryan. We were excited to pick up Ryan and hear all about his day. He was chatty the whole way home. So happy he loves "school".
